Kinderdijk

At Kinderdijk you can see how the water levels have been managed - through the different types of mills and then on to electric powered pumping systems. The mills are all working and many of them (other than the museum mills) have families living in them. There are mills from 2 different water boards - on one side the stone mills and on the other the wooden mills.

We visited the two museum mills where you can see how they were structured and what life was like for the families living and working in the mills. Taking the boat trip gave us great views of the mills from the water.
